A Mid-Market – or Medium Sized – Business is usually classified as a business with at least 51 employees, but not more than 200 employees.  It is important to remember, however, that for purposes of the Affordable Care Act, an employer with 50 or more employees is considered a “Large Employer” under the Act.

A Small Business is one defined as having fewer than 50 employees.
